Minisforum MDSA156: New portable dual-screen monitor costs under $250 Leave a comment

Even though Minisforum is best known for its mini PCs, the company offers other products. For example, it recently entered the eGPU market with the launch of the DEG1 dock and has now introduced a portable dual-screen monitor, the MDSA156.

This new dual-screen portable monitor is quite affordable compared to the competition. To be more specific, it launched at $231, and for that price, Minisforum is offering what appears to be a decent two-screen portable display solution. Like the competition solution from other brands (such as the Acer PD163Q), it comes with a laptop-like hinge, connecting the two displays.

Each of the sides has a 15.6-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, 178-inch viewing angle, and rated brightness rating of 250 nits. You also get a good amount of flexibility regarding the setup process. This portable dual-screen monitor can be set up in a titled position, in a laptop-like configuration, and laid on a flat surface. The hinge also allows the use of a single display, and it even enables you to set up the monitor in a tent-like configuration.

Minisforum aims to offer an immersive audio-visual experience with this portable monitor and to take care of the audio, there’s a built-in dual-speaker setup. With full-range units, the company says that the speaker setup can offer a surround sound experience.

Build-wise, the Minisforum MDSA156 features a metal body, and the company says that the portable monitor only weighs 2.2 lbs. This lightweight build makes it stand as a good choice for on-the-go productivity. Connectivity-wise, there are one HDMI, one 3.5 mm audio, and two USB Type-C ports. You can learn more about it from the spec sheet attached below or the official store.
