Asus readies Nvidia RTX 50
Asus’s ROG NUC launched as a new gaming mini PC lineup back in July 2024, and per recent reports, Asus is preparing to launch the successor. To look back, the first-gen offering featured up to Nvidia RTX 4070 and Intel Core Ultra 9 185H. Per the reports, the next-gen will see a noticeable improvement in terms of both the CPU and the GPU.
To be specific, the next-gen Asus ROG NUC will reportedly be available with Intel Core Ultra 200H CPUs. As for the GPU, the upcoming gaming mini PC will be powered by Nvidia RTX 50 series graphics, with the top-end configuration possibly maxing out at RTX 5070 and the other featuring RTX 5060.
Asus has already confirmed that new NUC mini PCs will make their debut at CES 2025, which is around the corner. However, there’s no word on the pricing details yet. 孤城Hardware on Weibo shares that the price in China will based on the 2024 version, but it’s not clear whether the same will remain true for the global market.
For reference, the 2024 Asus ROG NUC 14 with Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, Nvidia RTX 4070, and 16 GB of RAM launched at $2,199, which was considered to be quite expensive for a mini PC. At such a price range, it’s possible to get an RTX 4080-powered laptop (ROG Strix G18 curr. $2,199.99 on Best Buy), but yes, mini PCs are often a better choice for space-constrained setups.
Nonetheless, if the reports hold true, the top-end configurations of the next-gen ROG NUC with RTX 50 series GPUs will also remain on the expensive end. That will eventually make the gaming mini PC a very niche product.
