Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 upgrades highlighted in new leak Leave a comment

A new leak has now outlined the improvements Samsung’s next-gen flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold7, is expected to arrive with later this year. A main camera upgrade is surprisingly mooted but the foldable looks set to retain its predecessor’s disappointing battery.

Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold7 later in the year along with the Z Flip7 and likely the Z Flip7 FE. With the recent cancellation of the OnePlus Open 2, the Z Fold7 will debut as one of the few foldable options in the US market, and a new leak has now revealed some planned improvements for the device.

Chinese leaker Setsuna Digital shared that the Galaxy Z Fold7 is slated to arrive with many upgrades compared to last year’s Z Fold6. The flagship is tipped to feature improvements to its hinge design—indicating further elimination of the crease—as well as updates to the under-display camera, screen, and dust/water resistance.

Supposedly, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will get an upgraded main camera as well. While that idea may excite fans, it’s important to note that previous reports all indicate otherwise, with the Galaxy Z Fold7 generally touted to retain the 50 MP main camera on previous generations. Both the Z Fold Special Edition and the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge have better main cameras, though, so it’d be disappointing if the Galaxy Z Fold7 arrived with the same sensor used on all its predecessors going back to the Galaxy Z Fold4.

Unfortunately, it appears the Galaxy Z Fold7 will not offer any battery improvements over last year’s model. That was the same for the Galaxy S25 lineup, so should come as no surprise. The foldable looks set to feature a 4400mAh battery—disappointing considering thinner, smaller foldables like the upcoming Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 and OPPO Find N5 are touted to feature batteries with capacities north of 5000 mAh.
