The Asus Vivobook S 14 (Q423SA) OLED laptop is meant for folks who want a reliable, portable, and long-lasting laptop with an OLED display at an affordable price point. The laptop accomplishes this by combining an Intel Lunar Lake Core Ultra 5 226V APU with its Arc 130V iGPU and 16 GB RAM with 512 GB of storage in a small 14-inch chassis at a starting price of just $949.99.

However, thanks to the ongoing holiday discounts, the Asus Vivobook S 14 (Q423SA) can be found for an excellent price of just $649.99. First seen in November, this is the lowest Vivobook S 14 price to date.

Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED laptop nails the basics

The key qualities of the Vivobook S 14 on sale are the notebook’s portable chassis, 16:10 OLED display, the Core Ultra 5 226V chip, and the reportedly excellent battery life. The laptop also has a pretty good port selection consisting of:

  • Two Thunderbolt 4 ports
  • Two Type-A connectors
  • One HDMI 2.1 out
  • A 3.5 mm audio/microphone jack
  • One microSD card reader

Looking at the display in a bit more detail, the 14-inch 16:10 OLED panel boasts a resolution of FHD+ (1,920 x 1,200) which, although not as crisp as some would’ve liked, is plenty sharp for a 14-inch panel. The display also features up to 600 nits of HDR brightness and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. So, the Vivobook S 14 should be a pretty sweet machine for media-watching.

Performance-wise, although the Core Ultra 5 226V on offer sits at the bottom of the Lunar Lake lineup with only 4x Lion Cove P-cores, 4x Skymont E-cores, and an Arc 130V iGPU, the chip should be plenty powerful for day-to-day use. Per our database, the Core Ultra 7 226V performs on par with the Strix Point Ryzen AI 9 365 in single-core and the Core i7-12650H in the multi-core department.

Moreover, you can even use the Asus Vivobook S 14 for some light gaming, as the Arc 130V has enough grunt to run old/light games well. For instance, the Arc 130V runs Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown above 100 FPS at FHD/ultra.

So, if your average workday is spent using your laptop for web browsing and editing documents with some light gaming, the Asus Vivobook S 14 will not leaving you wanting for more performance.

Finally, the Asus Vivobook S 14 should last a pretty long time on a single charge. In our review of a different Vivobook S 14 SKU, the UX5406, we measured a Wi-Fi web surfing runtime of 14 hours and 18 minutes. Since, the Vivobook S 14 (Q423SA) on sale packs a marginally bigger 75 Wh cell and a weaker CPU, we can expect similar if not longer runtimes.

All things considered, the Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED laptop for $649.99 is an impressive package considering the hardware on offer.
