JBL has been planning to launch the JBL Flip 7 for some time now, with certain leaks alluding to its features and imminent release. In addition to confirmed information about features and price, the JBL Flip 7 can also be found in a corresponding smartphone app.

According to Gizmochina, the JBL Flip 7 comes with a kind of AI audio. The JBL AI Sound Boost algorithm is intended to provide real-time optimization of audio quality. However, how well this actually functions can only be assessed in real-world tests. The 182.5 x 69.5 x 71.5-millimeter speaker weighs 560 grams, making it relatively compact and portable. A high-capacity lithium-ion polymer battery is said to provide 14 hours of runtime, with a special mode that extends the battery life by 2 hours by deactivating the bass display and equalizer settings. Charging is via USB-C.

IP68 certification is advertised, which is an improvement over the IP67 certification of the JBL Flip 6 predecessor. Theoretically, this means that the JBL Flip 7 should be able to survive drops in water without damage. Again, whether this is possible is another story, but users can at least count on protection against rain and water spills or splashes. Lastly, Auracast support is on board, allowing users to connect multiple compatible JBL speakers for stereo or synchronized multi-speaker playback.

In China, the JBL Flip 7 is now available for an early-bird price of around $158. Information on a global launch is still pending. The JBL Flip 6 is currently available on Amazon for $99.
